Calling all second year apprentices!

As of May 7, 2012, there is a second period class starting at SAIT Mayland Heights in Calgary. There are 10 apprentices registered for this class, leaving 6 seats vacant. It would be great if we could get a few more apprentices into this class. It is in the Industry’s best interest to get these classes to at least 13 filled seats. Any less than that and the program will be scrutinized. Your help in filling these vacant seats would be greatly appreciated, by SAIT, your apprentice and by Industry.

In Memory of Dave Wercholaz

It is with deep sorrow we announce that Dave Wercholaz passed away on March 30th, 2012. Dave was an active member of GAMA for over 20 years. He helped with the GAMA golf tournament, Guest Speaker position and wherever anyone needed assistance.

Dave was recently employed by Samuel Specialty Metals.

Dave’s fun loving spirit will be greatly missed by all of us.

In Dave’s memory, GAMA has made a donation to the
Canadian Liver Foundation.

Building Futures Award

Congratulations to Grant Metals who received the Building Futures Award on March 5th at the Calgary Construction Association's AGM award evening. The annual award is presented to companies that actively support the CCA’s Youth Employment Program (YEP).

PGAA Annual Golf Tournament

Location: Alberta Springs Golf Resort (Sylvan Lake)

The PGAA is proudly hosting a golf tournament in an effort to raise funds for Education Initiatives such as Master Glazier Program, Provincial Skills Competition, Scholarships and Bursaries.

The tournament will be a BEST BALL FORMAT and is designed to be fun for everyone. ~~Currently we have openings for 80 golfers.~~ The amount of golfers was increased from 80 to 120 and as of April 26th, we have 115 registered with room for only 5 more. This is a great opportunity to support the glazing industry and renew acquaintances with old friends in the industry. Feel free to invite an employee or customer or even your spouse!

Proximity prizes will be awarded, as well as prizes for the best team. Should more gifts be donated, they will be handed out at the dinner buffet.

The dinner will be a complete buffet along with an 8 oz. New York Strip Loin Steak! A hot Breakfast buffet will also be provided, so bring your appetite!
